Soup Kitchens & Shelters
DESK serves dinner at least 5 nights a week, and offers a food pantry on Wednesday afternoons. Dinner locations rotate throughout the week, and during the academic year include the Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale. Several Yale student groups volunteer at DESK on a regular basis. They are located at 311 Temple Street in downtown New Haven.
Columbus House provides beds and shelter all year-round, and accepts donations of food and clothing for the needy. Columbus House also offers case management and other programs and services for the homeless. Columbus House is located at 586 Ella Grasso Blvd in New Haven.
The Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project
YHHAP is one of the many student groups at Yale University dedicated to community service. The umbrella service organization, Dwight Hall, holds open houses every semester for insterested students to get involved.
