The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York (KJRI-NY) will host several exciting events in the upcoming weeks. First, on Wednesday, July 29, a visiting puppeteer will perform a traditional “wayang” puppet show, accompanied by Indonesian Gamelan.

Wayang often refers to puppets, and also to the theatrical performance of shadow puppetry, which can be found throughout Java and also on the island of Bali.

Then, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence on August 17, KJRI-NY will host a day long celebration, the “68th Street Indonesian Festival” on Saturday, August 22.
