Indonesian Independence Day Festival

Free and Open to the Public!

Join the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York, along with the Saung Budaya dance troupe, Gamelan Kusumu Laras, Nusantara Kreasindo dance group, the International Silat Federation, and other Indonesian cultural and performing groups from around the region on Saturday, August 22, to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.

Organized and hosted by the Consulate (KJRI-NY), “Journey to Indonesia” is the first ever Indonesian street festival to be held in New York City.  The event will take place August 22, 2015, from 12-5pm, outside the Consulate on East 68th Street, between 5th and Madison Avenues.  To highlight the great diversity in Indonesian culture, the afternoon of events will begin with a Journey to Sumatra and Kalimantan, followed by a Journey to Bali and Java, and concluding with a Journey to Sulawesi and Papua.
