The corner of York and Elm streets, near the heart of the Yale University campus, is now home to a satellite gallery of the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History. The museum, whose main building can display only a few percent of its 13 million specimens and objects at any given time, is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its founding by opening additional exhibits at Peabody2. The focus of the Peabody2 exhibits: “Identity, Difference, and Understanding: Lessons from Oceania and Southeast Asia“. The gallery opening on August 16 included an introduction from Michael Dove,Professor of Anthropology and Curator of Anthropology in the Peabody Museum.
The gallery is open daily, Monday-Saturday from 10am-9pm, and Sundays from 12-6pm.
