Indonesian Country Fair in West Stockbridge

2015-09-29 11.39.41Following on the tremendously successful Indonesian Street Fair in New York City, the Indonesian Consulate in New York (KJRI) along with dancers from Saung Budaya and musicians from Gamelan Kusuma Laras, headed to West Stockbridge, MA, on Saturday September 26 to participate in the town’s first Indonesian Country Fair. The event organizer, I’in Purwanti, wanted to recreate and share her cultural roots, and prepared a fun-filled day for attendees of all ages and backgrounds. People visited regions of the Fair representing each of 6 different islands: Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Papua, Bali and Java, complete with performances, artwork, batik designs, and food and drink samples from each of the islands.
