Indonesia, a country of nearly 300 million people, is the third largest democracy in the world,.  The world’s largest archipelago, it contains 17,528 islands, only about 6,000 of which are inhabited.  It’s people number 300 different ethnic groups native to the islands, speaking more than 700 different languages and dialects.  With the wide variety of cultures and traditions in this multi-ethnic diverse nation, it is no wonder that Indonesia’s motto is “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” meaning “Unity in Diversity” or “Many, yet one.”
